We are delighted to have won the safer streets category and be awarded the overall winner for the East of England Community Impact Awards.
The East of England Community Impact Awards, organised by the National Housing Federation (NHF) were held on 23rd October 2012 and we will go onto the National awards being held early next year. The NHF brought together a number of housing associations who were shortlisted to celebrate a vast range of neighbourhood projects and recognise the important work they carry out on a daily basis.
We entered our ‘Next Generation Project’ which aims to reduce antisocial behaviour in Luton and, more specifically, at Hilltop Court. Key activities coordinated by Aldwyck included setting up the Hilltop Youth Club, hosting community events and giving 9-15 year olds access to free football coaching sessions.
The project has had a huge impact on the community and connected with over 125 local young people in the past year.
Harj Singh, Chief Executive, Aldwyck Housing Group said; “This project has gone from strength to strength and its success is testament to the involvement and commitment of our partners, funders and the local community.
“I’m proud we have won both the safer streets category and be awarded overall winner. The award provides recognition of the success we have achieved by working with local residents to make their communities great places to live and is something we wish to build on for the future.”
