Our Money Advisor only started with us a few months ago but Noor has already made a difference to over 120 customers.

To date he:

• has helped our customers claim over £20,000 in backdated housing benefit and over £6,000 in other benefits, with one customer being awarded a housing benefit backdate of over £1,800
• has helped challenge overpayment of housing benefit decisions with one customer having a £1,500 overpayment decision reversed
• has advised customers and helped them increase their income from benefits which altogether over the next year will come to a total of £140,000.

Noor tells us about one of the cases he has been working on:

“One customer was starting a new business and did not realise that they were able to claim Working Tax Credits. They had received advice that would also have delayed their payments being made. I was able to give them some good advice and encouraged them to increase their hours from 24 to 30 a week. This allowed them to receive a higher rate of Working Tax Credits and increase their income even more.”

Our Money Advisor has also helped:

• customers who are terminally ill
• customers who have mental health problems and have been too ill to claim
• where customers have recently experienced the death of a partner and now need to claim benefits
• new customers look at budgeting and if they can afford to take on a tenancy.
