Hertfordshire Floating Support Service
Our Floating Support Service provides a holistic package of support to vulnerable people to enable them to maintain their tenancy and independence. The service offers flexible, short-term housing support to people for a maximum of two years.
A Floating Support Worker will provide support tailored to individuals' needs. This could include helping them to:
- Manage their home
- Manage their money
- Stay safe and secure in their home
- Manage their health and lifestyle
- Go to work or college
- Enjoy their spare time
- Achieve their life choices
- Liaise with agencies.
Working in partnership with other support agencies, Floating Support Workers will make regular visits to service users with the intention of providing a range of support tailored to individual needs.
Applications to the service are assessed for suitability by our supported housing staff. All applicants are assessed according to the “Eligibility Criteria”.
Who is eligible to apply?
- Residents of Hertfordshire who are aged 18 years or over with a mental illness.
They must also be willing to:
- Undergo a needs and risk assessment
- Undertake a support programme.

Referrals for the Floating Support Service will be accepted by means of a self referral or a referral from:
- Social Services
- Health Care Services
- NHS Primary Care Trust
- Housing departments
- Citizens Advice Bureau
- Voluntary agencies
- Registered Social Landlords
- Other agencies and organisations.

The Supported Housing Team offer the Floating Support Service in St Albans, Welwyn Garden City, North Herts, Watford and Three Rivers.
