Awards shortlisting success
Aldwyck Housing Group are celebrating after recently being shortlisted for two awards.
Broxbourne’s Boundary Park Youth Club, run by Aldwyck, has been shortlisted for the ‘Youth Project of the Year’ award in the Broxbourne Youth Awards 2019.
For its new housing developments at Derwent Place in Bedford and Rouper Court in Watford Aldwyck has been shortlisted in the Local Authority Building Control (LABC) awards.
The Bedford build has been shortlisted in two categories ‘Best High Volume New Housing Development’ and ‘Best Social or Affordable New Housing Development’. Rouper Court received a shortlisting in the ‘Best Small New Housing Development’ category.
Derwent Place in Bedford was an abandoned industrial site, an eyesore for the local population. In partnership with Taylor French, Aldwyck has transformed it in to a community of 21 two and three-bedroom affordable homes and an area the local community speaks positively about.
Rouper Court on Alexandra Way in Watford is a development of nine flats, three one-bedroom, four two-bedroom and two three-bedroom flats. The site was previously a former care home and had been vacant for a number of years before being developed in to these high quality flats.
Tim Jennings, Interim Chief Executive of Aldwyck Housing Group, commented ‘To be recognised in these two awards is really pleasing. The fact we are shortlisted for our youth work and the new homes we are building for local people recognises how we are working, in different ways, to build communities where we operate. I’m very proud of our teams and wish them every success in the awards’.
The outcome of both awards will be announced in the spring. The Broxbourne Youth Awards will take place on Friday 29 March and the winners of the LABC awards are announced on Friday 5 April.
